Dear Ridgeview Families,
Ridgeview is participating in the May Walk+Roll to School Challenge and we need your help! The Walk+Roll to School Challenge is a month-long encouragement event in which students are encouraged to use active transportation such as walking or bicycling to and from school. Our goal is to encourage as many students as possible to increase their physical activity by using active transportation modes like walking, biking, scooting, skating, etc. This year we have great incentives and prizes to encourage our students to get active! Ridgeview is participating in the Walk + Roll Challenge starting May 22 and ending on May 26. Event details are below: Students walking and rolling to school will get free incentives and be entered into a prize raffle. For some families, it really is too far to walk to school every day. Don’t worry, your family can still participate in the Walk+Roll to School Challenge. If you live a long way from school, you could Park 'n' Stride instead. This involves parking and walking to and from school with your child. Walking and rolling to and from school is an excellent way to add physical activity into your child’s daily routine. Kids need at least sixty minutes of physical activity every day to keep them healthy – and many kids in Oregon just don’t get enough. Positive experiences gained through walking and bicycling to school will pave the way for being physically active throughout life. Parents looking for tips on how to use active transportation for fun, health and safety should check out resources here https://www.thestreettrust.org/parents-teachers/. Thanks again for helping encourage healthy habits in our school community. We couldn’t do it without you. Sincerely, Jim Jim Crist, Principal Ridgeview Elementary School
