Our first Family Dinner Night is this week! Flyers should have gone home today or will tomorrow. On Wednesday and Thursday, eat at Dickie Jo's, Dickie Yo's or both and bring your flyer. Ridgeview PTO will earn 25% of your purchase. It works all day, both days. If you happened not to receive a flyer, there are a few still available in the office or you can download and print one below.
Our first PTO Meeting of the year is also this week. On Thursday, September 21, at 6pm, come join us in the Ridgeview Cafeteria. We'll have a guest speaker from the Springfield Public Library and we will also be discussing our Fall Family Movie Night (help us choose a movie!), and the upcoming book fair. We'd love to see you there!

Ridgeview Families: Ridgeview will practice and prepare for the following emergency situations this school year:
Fire Drills - One each month. First fire drill is September 12th. A fire drill begins with the sounding of our school's fire alarm and is followed by a quick and safe evacuation of the school to an assigned staging area, on campus, for roll call. Earthquake Drills - Minimum of two drills for the school year. First earthquake drill is September 12th. Earthquake procedures; Drop, Cover, and Hold On are taught to the students. All classrooms, upon a signal, will quickly and safely practice Dropping, Covering, and Holding On specific to the area of the school that they are in. Lockdown Drills/Preparedness - Minimum of three for the school year. First lockdown/preparedness drill is October 3rd. Springfield Public School utilizes the ALICE Training. ALICE stands for (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate). The three drills, at Ridgeview, build upon one another. Drill #1 will include in-class discussion that is centered around the concept of "Stranger Danger" and what to do in a dangerous situation... "Follow the Teachers Directions." Classrooms will show a student friendly slide show and talk about the dangers that others sometimes present to us. This slide show will reinforce students to "follow the teachers directions" and will include the concepts of Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate in an elementary student-friendly manner. Drill #2 and Drill #3 will take the concepts from Drill #1 and put them into practice. For example, in Drill #2 and #3 we will review the concepts learned in Drill #1 and follow up with specific actions such as evacuation from the building. In addition, Springfield Public Schools and Ridgeview Elementary have plans and processes in place for where to meet in case of a campus evacuation, including plans for the reunification with family if we were to evacuate from our campus.
