The school garden was first established 20 years ago as a worm farm. Several years later it became a school garden that also taught about composting. In the last few years it has been neglected with only occasional use. It is now maintained by the PTO.
Repair
In the spring of 2015, Lane Forest Products donated a cubic yard of wood chips for the walkways. While it was a good start, there is plenty more to do. Most of the garden beds are original to the garden and are in desperate need of repairs or replacement. We hope to get donations to repair or replace most of them, along with donations for gardening tools, gloves and even a hose! Our hose has been sitting out in the sun for years and is disintegrating.
Garden Club
While we work to get the garden functioning again, the Garden Club will be meeting on Thursdays 3-3:30 after school. Bring your tools, gloves and lots of elbow grease. There are many weeds to pull, saplings to chop down and beds to prepare for spring sowing.
